Steps In Going Solar
- Solar Panels (also called solar modules).
- Inverter – the device that converts the DC electricity from the solar panels into AC electricity that your house uses.
- DC Disconnect – device required to safely shut down power to solar equipment connected to the solar panels.
- AC Disconnect – Switching device required to safely shut down power to solar equipment connected to your home electrical system.
- Conduit – metal tubing ran between electrical devices for housing wiring needed to transmit electricity
- PV Wiring – wring specifically rated for use on solar circuits
- Solar Fuses and Breakers – protective devices rated for use on solar that disconnect power if electrical problems arise
- Junction and Combiner Boxes – electrical enclosures used to connect and /or distribute solar electricity to all areas of the system.
- Racking – equipment used to mount solar panels to each other and the roof structure or other qualifying structure
- Solar Flashings – component used to seal all roof penetrations where solar system is mounted -Solar meter, solar monitor- device that tracks output and condition of solar system in realtime
- Solar Labels/ Plaques – required labels in various areas of system stating location of solar components, dangers and warnings
